(Absolute Beginner) I have no or very little English. I can only say a few isolated words like ‘hello’ or ‘yes/no’.

(Beginner) I can understand and use very basic everyday phrases. I can introduce myself, ask simple questions about personal details, and understand very slow and clear speech.

(Elementary) I can understand common phrases and sentences about familiar topics like shopping, family, or work. I can communicate in simple, routine situations and describe basic things.

(Intermediate) I can understand the main points of clear information on familiar topics. I can handle most situations while traveling and produce simple, connected text on subjects I know.

(Upper-Intermediate) I can understand complex texts and conversations on various topics, including technical ones in my field. I can interact with native speakers with a good degree of fluency and produce clear, detailed writing.
